Gum Disease

Gum disease is caused by bacteria growing on the teeth and gums. Bacteria in the form of plaque. The bacteria in the plaque feed on sugars present in the foods you eat and drink making toxins. The toxins irritate your gums causing them to bleed and swell when brushed. Over time plaque can harden into tartar causing greater irritation to the gums.
Your chances of getting gum disease increase if you:● Not cleaning brushing and flossing your teeth● Not getting regular checkups and dental cleanings● Smoking or chewing tobacco● If you have gum disease in your family● Problems that weaken your immune system● Improper diet. If you believe you have gum disease, make an appointment with us. We love to help.
