Dental Sealants

Dental sealants are clear coatings applied to children's teeth to prevent tooth decay. Sealants prevent food and plaque from resting in the small crevices of teeth thereby reducing the chance of decay. Sealants last as long as 5 to 10 years and can be applied to children of all ages. Sealants are painted onto the enamel once it is cleaned and is fast and painless to apply as no dental freezing is needed.  
Even though sealants prevent cavities, good oral hygiene, regular dental exams and a balanced diet low in sugar are essential to good oral hygiene.
